Emergency
What is the difference between a maintained, a non-maintained and a sustained emergency luminare?
A maintained luminaire is able to have it’s lamp(s) switched and driven by a healthy mains supply in non-emergency mode. In emergency mode, at least one of those lamps will be driven by the battery inverter.
A non-maintained luminaire will only work in emergency mode. The lamp(s) will only be driven by the battery invertor in the event of a mains failure.
A sustained luminaire will have a lamp(s) that will run with a healthy mains supply, but has a separate lamp(s) that will only be driven in emergency mode by the battery inverter. The separate emergency lamp(s) will not be driven in the mains healthy mode.
